This home is a total gem! If you’re looking for a new home but prefer character over builder basic, this is the home for you! The home features wood ceilings, THREE fireplaces, and a gorgeous river view. You can not go wrong. It for sure needs some updating, but that’s where I come in.. to give you some drool worthy inspiration. So without further ado, this is what I would do if I bought this home.. Enjoy!
The exterior is already pretty nice. I like the brick. The main change I would make is to either paint the windows and trim black or replace them (if they’re in rough shape-they look original).
That view is amazing! And it is a .55 acre lot with underground sprinklers.
Again, paint the trim black. The brick colored trim is dating it majorly. I love the brick steps! Add a modern sconce and you’re set.

Look at the size of this patio! Just peel off the green carpet.
Create a cozy seating area that maximizes the amazing view.

I’d personally keep the stone floors to keep true to the character of the home. But I would update the railing with something sleek.

All this amazing living room needs is new drapes and maybe ditch that dated fireplace insert. Love the large windows, brick fireplace, wood ceilings..

And those built-ins!! I would just paint them the same color as the walls.

Check out the adorable dining room. The fireplace is so sweet and that dutch door is quite lovely!

The kitchen needs an overhaul.

The basement is great. I would probably just Sheetrock the walls and add a plush, low pile, neutral carpet.

The rooms don’t look too big.. typical for a home built in 1959.

You could keep the tiled shower, just updated the shower faucets/hardware.

You could probably work with this wallpaper but I’d likely remove it.

I don’t mind this paneling for some reason.

The pink tile could totally work! But if you’re already updating, why not include the bathroom on the list.

And there’s plenty of room for double sinks.

I like this built-in cabinet a lot!

Nice, bright laundry room.

Gah, check out that wallpaper! I think you could live with the sink on the left but everything else could stand to be updated.

So what do you think? What would you do differently? And more importantly, do you want to take a look at this home?
